The sermon explored how Jesus is the true light who came into the darkness of our world, fulfilling Isaiah's prophecy and illuminating our path to salvation. From the prophecies in Isaiah to the fulfillment in the Gospels, we traced the theme of light throughout Scripture - from the glory that shone around the shepherds to the star that guided the Magi. Most importantly, we examined Jesus' declaration "I am the light of the world" and His subsequent call to us: "You are the light of the world." This Christmas gift of light was never meant to be hidden but shared with others living in spiritual darkness.

• Jesus came as light into complete darkness for you and me. Isaiah prophesied that "the people walking in darkness have seen a great light," and that light is Jesus Christ - born as a child, given as a son, our Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, and Prince of Peace.

• The gift of salvation through Jesus must be personally received. Simeon proclaimed that his eyes had seen God's salvation. The question for each of us is: Have your eyes seen the salvation of Jesus? Have you experienced that relationship with Him, receiving forgiveness and the gift of eternal life?

• We are called to shine Christ's light to others. Jesus declared us to be "the light of the world," calling us to testify about Him and share the gospel with those in darkness around us. This gift was never meant to be hidden under a bowl but placed on a stand for all to see through our good deeds that glorify our Father in heaven.
